Privacy Policy
Version 2026-08-09 · Effective August 9, 2026
What we collect
Your email (to sign you in), your profile as you fill it out (name, photo, city, ratings, play style, paddles, weekly availability), your messages to other players, the endorsements you give and receive, and your activity in crews and events. If something in the app breaks while you're using it, an error report is collected automatically. More on that below.
Location, specifically
We store one point for your general area, from a city you pick or a location you share, to power distance and discovery. Other players see your city name and rough distance. On maps, your position is deliberately shifted by about half a mile, every time, for everyone. Your exact coordinates are never displayed.
Messages
Messages are private between the two participants and stored so your conversations persist. Moderators do not read messages unless content is reported.
Private ratings
The optional 1–5 sliders you can set after endorsing someone are visible to no one but you. Not the other player, not other members. They exist to improve future matching.
Error reports
When the app crashes or errors, a report is sent to Sentry, our error-monitoring service. A report can include your IP address, browser and device type, the page you were on, and the steps that led to the error. It exists so we can fix bugs, is kept for ninety days by default, and is never used for advertising.
Who touches the data
The Rally runs on infrastructure providers who process data on our behalf: Supabase (database, authentication, and file storage), Netlify (hosting), Mapbox (maps and location search; your map views and place searches go through them), and Sentry (error monitoring). Each receives only what its job requires. We don't sell your data, run ads against it, or share it with anyone else except when the law requires.
Cookies
We use cookies for exactly one thing: keeping you signed in. No advertising cookies, no cross-site trackers.
How long we keep things
Your data lives as long as your account does. Deleting your account in Settings permanently removes your profile and everything attached to it: availability, paddles, endorsements, messages. This is immediate and not reversible. Error reports age out on their own schedule (about ninety days), and backups roll off within a few weeks.
Age
The Rally is for adults 18 and up. We don't knowingly collect data from anyone younger; if we learn we have, we'll delete the account.
Your choices
You can see and edit everything on your profile from the app, export what you've written by asking us, and delete your account, and all its data, yourself, any time, from Settings.
Changes
This policy is versioned alongside the Terms. Material changes will be shown to you for review before you continue using the app.
